AWESOME. I am a huge fan of Northwest airlines.

I will be going on this plane during the summer in August (my birth month) and I cannot hold it anymore with going.

@16:16 the engines goes full power. @17:00 the plane finally takes off. Today it is not uncommon for planes to take longer than that before they take off

I can't believe Delta demolished The Worldport!! It was days from getting National Historic Landmark Status. Pan Am would still be flying today if that $400M Loan feom Delta never happens

Since when did DC9's have engines mounted on the wings?

My husband worked for NWA from 1990 to 2003. We went on ,many flights in the 1990s. I used to live near DTW now I live close FNT. I flew on many DC 9s of all sizes.

Me and my family took a lot of flights on Northwest, when it was known as Northwest Orient Airlines going as far back as 1957. Much of my DC-9 flights were on Eastern Airlines (a LOT of flights). I miss the DC-9s and I miss Northwest Orient and Eastern Airlines its why I watch these RUclips vids.

It’s refreshing to see a landing where the pilot isn’t over controlling the crap out of the controls. Sure maybe it was relatively calm wind for this arrival, but there are times where the throttle is constantly going up and down and the flight controls are all over the place. This guy literally set the power and let the plane just fly on in. Very smooth and nothing overly dramatic whatsoever.

After Pan Am went under in 1991 the decline of the WorldPort started. Just to end up in an awful state of disrepair. It was such a wonderful terminal, with a rich history, and it should never have demolished. It should have been put in to its former glory, and it would've been a wonderful tribute to Pan Am, IDL/JFK and time gone by, just like the TWA Flight Center. I can't but help to blame Delta for the loss of Pan Ams WorldPort.

I really enjoyed this! The taxi to the runway at MSP rivals AMS where you land in Belgium and taxi to The Netherlands. That was the butteriest of butter landings at ORD!

Brings back fond memories of many a flight on a “Nine” with my dear departed parents in the 1970s-1980s. I remember in the 70s especially having to trade my jeans and t-shirts for a jacket and tie, because that’s what everyone did in those days.

This wasn't long before they were retired for good. Lord how incredibly much I miss them.

You know you have lots of power for takeoff when at 1,000' and climb power is selected a thrust increase occurs. A jet that can perform a reduced thrust takeoff, which means clearing all obstacles on one engine, is a beast!
